Oedipus Brewing
Gedempt Hamerkanaal 85 1021 KP Amsterdam, Netherlands

Oedipus is a production brewery in North Amsterdam.
Oedipus was founded by several guys who learned about the marvels of craft beer, especially American craft beer, at Beer Temple, a beer bar in Amsterdam.
Thus inspired, they taught themselves the rudiments of brewing, and...Oedipus was born!

Being in North Amsterdam, one must take the ferry to get there.
But it's only a 10-minute walk from the ferry dock.

The door opens directly to the tasting room bar.
The tasting room is separated from the brewing operation by a rope, so one can sit and drink while watching others hard at work on their behalf.
Oedipus serves about a dozen of their own beers on tap as well as 15 more in bottles.
Their site-brewed drafts include a pale ale, an IPA, a saison, a tripel, a wit, and a sour.
Then, there are always seasonals and collaborations.
The website of Oedipus is both fanciful and imaginative.

Butcher's Tears
Karperweg 45
1075 LB Amsterdam, Netherlands

Butcher’s Tears is a micro brewery at the end of a long, beat out, industrial street in Amsterdam, NE.
The butcher shop lives on !!
But what a cool place!
One storefront wide, with linoleum flooring and white ceramic wall tiles, the cozy space seats about 30 beer lovers on 6 modern picnic-style tables.
Butcher's Tears has 8 of their own beers on tap and 25 more in bottles.
The only snacks for sale looked like Chex mix.
For entertainment the bartender plays vinyl LPs on a record player.
The men’s room is in the brewery operation, past the open fermenters, which are the only ones in the Netherlands.
The is no women’s room.
This Questor was there from 4 to 6 PM ... prime happy hour.
I shared this delightful place with 4 other beer affectionados.
